- Eighth Grade Visual Arts
- Spooky Still Life day
- We set up three different still life's: a lounging skeleton, a harvest, and a spooky still life
- Students used black vine charcoal and white and orange conte crayon to create their still lives
- Cheryl taught this lesson and tomorrow I will be the lead teacher for the lesson with the other eighth grade class
- Seventh Grade Art Lab
- Art Lunch, students dine in the studio and work on their art projects
- Students have this week (3 total classes) to finish their dream bedrooms
- Students are finishing at slightly different paces
- Some students are adding final decorative elements while other students are still building furniture
- Students know that they will be finishing this project, but that I will be starting a project with them the following week that ties into the dream bedroom
Tuesday October 29
- Eighth Grade Visual Arts
- Still Life's- I was the Lead Teacher for this class
- I set up the classroom in the same way we did yesterday with slight variation to how the still life's were arranged
- The board had a list with:
- A starter question: Has anyone ever drawn a still life?
- Demo: Spooky-Skeleton-Harvest Still Life's Vine Charcoal
- Studio: Goals
- Look
- Light Sketch
- Fill Page
- Rub out
- Add Shadow
- Blend to Light
- Highlights and Contrasting Lines
- Studio: Bonus Challenge
- Draw from another angle or draw a different still life
- I presented a Demo following the above goals and focused on the Harvest still life zooming in on a pumpkin, straw hat, fabric, and a dried corn stalk
- Students worked around the classroom with 3-6 students working at each Still life at a time

Wednesday October 30
- Sixth Grade Visual Arts
- All sixth graders went on a field trip to the Flamenco Ballet so we did not see the Visual Arts students this morning
- During this open block I worked on my lesson plans for seventh grade Art Lab to become the Lead teacher for that class starting this coming Monday November 4th
- Seventh Grade Art Lab
- Dream Bedrooms
- Students are asked to fill out a finished checklist and reflective worksheet
- Do you have:
- Painted walls
- windows with window treatmeants
- carpet or flooring
- storage furniture built from foam
- bed with mattress, sheet, blanket
- pillow that was sewn
- sculpey snacks
- wall art
- at least three accessories
- What were the 3 original words that you hoped would describe your room?
- Give your room an interesting and accurate title
- Write a 5 sentence paragraph that answers:
- How is your room the same as your original idea?
- How did your ideas change as you worked?
- What are some of your favorite parts of your room?
- What would you change if you could?
- What did you learn through this project?
