- Sixth Grade
- The sixth graders have been creating tiny story boxes using a small square cardboard box that they are able to decorate and transform into a story from their memory.
- Students use paint, found objects, collage, and other mixed media materials to create the inside and outside of their box
- The box must include a foreground, middle ground, and background
- The box must also include a small clay sculpture figurine
- Zora- created a box from a memory of waterfall jumping in Hawaii
- Olly- created a box from when he was stuck behind a couch when he was 2
- The students had an extremely wide range of different stories, and each child transformed their box use an array of materials in all different ways
- Students were able to look at one anothers' tiny story boxes at the "art gallery" when they finished.
- Seventh Grade
- Students are working on their fantasy dream bedrooms
- Students have been constructing their dream bedrooms with wood, cardboard, fabric, painting, collage, found objects, and other mixed media materials.
- Each class Ms. Capezzutti gives a demonstration for another part of the bedroom that is mandatory and the different ways they can create it in their own bedroom.
- This class she gave a demo on how to create window treatments.
- First they need to put acetate on the window, then they can add curtains, a "view" with a printed photograph of some picturesque scene, or "stained glass" but decorating the acetate.

- 3rd grade
- Planning
- Students in grades 6-8 left this morning for their overnight school trip to Lutherlyn. They will stay here for 3 days and 3 nights, so we will not have classes with middle school this entire week. Instead, we will push-in to third grade and Kindergarten, while we also start planning for my next 8 weeks.
Wednesday October 23rd
- 3rd Grade
- Students finished painting their paper mached buildings
- Kindergarten
- We Pushed-in to Kindergarten Room 27 twice today
- Both times we pushed in were for costume making
- The first group was making costumes for their Lion King Play, so we brought different types of stiff and soft felt and taught techniques for making hand, head, and necklace animal faces
- The second group was making costumes for their Princess Play, so we brought different types of shinny fabric and sashes for the students to create dresses, capes, and more. We taught them techniques for cutting and ripping the fabric and tying and stapling them together to make the dresses.
Thursday October 24th
- 3rd grade
- Students finished painting their paper mached buildings.
- Grandparents day
- Due to the middle schoolers being away on their trip, the school decided with the extra room in the building that they would host Grandparents and Special friends to come in and spend the day with the primary and intermediate students.
- In the art space we set up stations that the second graders pre-planned.
- Then we went to the third grade class to make hand paper puppets with the grandparents that the students would use in their papermache building city
Friday October 25th
- This morning we mapped out the entire city of pittsburgh out on the balcony and created a grid for the students to figure out where their building is supposed to be located.
- Then we got an birds eye view shot of the city
